One big surprise from our #bucketwine project has been the success of the North Eastern Italian red varieties.  We thought the climate in Merbein would be too hot for these grapes, which originate in Friuli, Veneto and Trentino, but the resultant wines told us otherwise.  Rosato and red wines from Schioppettino, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso & Pavana have all been great successes in our first two vintages of #bucketwine.
